Privacy Policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

SideGlass shows what's already on your Mac. There's no account, no cookies and no tracking, and we never see what your modules show. This page explains which data goes where, and when: on this website, when you buy, and in the app.

1. Controller

The controller for processing on this website and in the SideGlass app is:

Priven Software
Iven Prillwitz
Nordstrasse 23
38350 Helmstedt
Germany
Email: support@sideglass.app

2. This website

Hosting. The website runs on Firebase App Hosting, a Google service built on Google Cloud. When you visit, Google processes the technically necessary data as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR): IP address, date and time, the address requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This keeps the website secure and available (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Server logs are kept for no more than 30 days, and we don't analyse them. Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses also apply.

No cookies, no tracking. The website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and uses no analytics or advertising services. We serve the font ourselves, so your browser loads nothing from Google Fonts or any other third party.

Email. If you write to us, we process your address and your message to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if it concerns your subscription, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f)). We delete messages once your request is settled, unless we're required to keep them.

3. Purchase and subscription through Lemon Squeezy

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) as reseller (merchant of record). You enter your payment details only with Lemon Squeezy, which is the controller for that processing; see the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy.

Lemon Squeezy shares your name, email address, country, plan, subscription status and license key with us, but not your full payment details. We use them for support, billing and to match licenses (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and keep them while your subscription runs and as long as the law requires.

4. The SideGlass app

The principle. SideGlass has no account and sends us no usage data, analytics or crash reports. Data leaves your Mac only when a module has to reach a service, and only for modules you turn on. Settings stay on your Mac, and access keys stay in the macOS keychain. The legal basis for the modules' requests is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: the feature you use doesn't work without them.

Only on your Mac. The calendars from macOS, Reminders, Contacts, Notes, Apple Music, Spotify, Bear, Shelf, Clock, Batteries, Calculator and the system monitor read and control data right on your Mac, with the permissions you grant in macOS. This data goes neither to us nor to anyone else.

License and trial. SideGlass stores the start of your trial only on your Mac. When you enter a license key, SideGlass sends it with your Mac's name to the Lemon Squeezy license API and then checks it at launch and about once a day. The name is the one in System Settings › General › About and may include your own name. Lemon Squeezy also sees your IP address, and we see which Mac your key is activated on. If you sign out this Mac in SideGlass, the activation is removed.

Updates. SideGlass checks for updates with the Sparkle framework and downloads them from Firebase Storage, a Google service acting as our processor. Google sees your IP address and the version of SideGlass. Sparkle sends no further information about your Mac.

Weather. For the forecast, coordinates rounded to about one kilometre go to Open-Meteo, or those of a fixed place you choose. If you search for a place, the search term goes to Open-Meteo's geocoding. Open-Meteo also sees your IP address. SideGlass only reads your location if you allow it in macOS.

Stocks. SideGlass fetches quotes and symbol search results from Yahoo Finance. Your watchlist's symbols, your search term and your IP address go to Yahoo.

RSS. SideGlass loads feeds directly from the addresses you add. Their servers see your IP address.

Todoist, GitHub and Xcode Cloud. These modules talk directly from your Mac to Todoist (Doist), GitHub and App Store Connect (Apple), with the access you connect yourself. The keys stay in your Mac's keychain; we never receive them. These providers' privacy policies apply.

Microsoft 365. If you add a Microsoft account to the calendar, you sign in with Microsoft directly in your browser. SideGlass receives access tokens for this, which stay in your Mac's keychain, and uses them to read your name, email address, calendars and their events through Microsoft Graph, from your Mac and read-only. The events stay on your Mac; we never receive tokens or events. Microsoft sees your IP address, and Microsoft's privacy policy applies. If you remove the account in SideGlass, SideGlass deletes the tokens on your Mac; you can revoke the access itself at myaccount.microsoft.com.

Assistant. The assistant uses Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence). Only if you allow it in the settings does it use Apple's Private Cloud Compute, under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive your prompts or the answers.

Terminal. The terminal runs programs such as Claude Code or Codex locally on your Mac. What these programs send is up to their providers and your accounts there. SideGlass only reads locally whether an agent is working or waiting for you.

5. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You may object to processing based on our legitimate interest (Art. 21). Write to us at support@sideglass.app.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example in the country where you live.

6. Changes

When SideGlass changes, we update this policy. The version on this page applies.
